It is common, but no less beautiful because of the flocks of them. They are actually in my back yard now, along with some grackles, eating up the seed that has fallen to the ground from the feeders.
Thanks so much. A flock full of dozens of them keep visiting my yard daily. They don't turn up their noses at the coarser seed the songbirds don't like. They are very skittish though, they fly at the smallest bump or bang inside the house.
