I'm looking back, or should that be ahead, about six months in each direction. I'm hoping for the return of the big butterflies to my area. Here's a gorgeous yellow swallowtail on a butterfly bush. They usually are a bit battered by wind and storms, but this makes them fly a little slower, and I'm able to capture a photo of them when they visit the yard. I love the blue of the sky behind this beautiful, winged insect.

Love the butterflies, beautiful capture of the Swallowtail. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comment and for hosting this fun challenge. I appreciate it.
DeleteI saw some small yellow butterflies or moths on my hike today. But it's in the 70s here right now.
ReplyDeleteOh my, we are in the single digits this week, so the 70's sounds a bit like heaven to me now.
DeleteI don't think winter is the right time for butterflies.
ReplyDeleteNo, you are right, this photograph is from the summertime. There is snow on the ground now, and all the insects are hibernating in the ground or have perished. There are a few ladybugs in the house though. They live in the outside walls through the winter and sometimes find their way in through the window sashes.
DeleteWhat a stunning photo! The colors are amazing.
ReplyDeleteThanks, butterflies are one of the best aspects of summer in my area.
DeleteThem swallowtails are flighty and hard to photograph (for me). So anything to slow them down a little. Beautiful image.
ReplyDeleteI am always out in the yard with the camera when the weather is warm. When I am indoors, I keep watch near the windows for flash of a colorful wing. They are very hard to capture with the camera, but I try so often, i get lucky sometimes.
DeleteSuch a beautiful capture of the Swallowtail. Here's to more butterflies in 2025!
ReplyDeleteI agree, there can never be too many butterflies floating through the air.
DeleteWow... fantastisc. Lovely butterflies. We see butterflies less in the last year. Hope for more this year.
ReplyDeleteI also see less butterflies than I did in the past. It is a concern for me, and I help the Black Swallowtails along by saving caterpillars from hungry birds and the insect predators. One of these winter weeks I will post a series on how I do this each year. Thanks so much for the comment.
DeleteBeautiful capture.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much.
