My beautiful Amaryllis has begun to fade. It was cooperative and bloomed on Christmas Eve, precisely on time for a family gathering. The bulb sent up two blooming stalks at once, and at one time, I had eight blossoms open. It began to shrivel and fade today, and no staking or propping will keep the stalks upright. I moved it to a sunny spot near a basement window. The bulb will be kept in its pot, and the foliage will be nurtured until mid-Autumn when I will try to bring it back into bloom again.

ReplyDeleteIt looks gorgeous :-D
ReplyDeleteThanks, the flowers are spent now, and I'm storing it, hoping to bring it back for next Christmas.
DeleteIt really is beautiful. I used to have one in a pot. I was surprised to see them growing in the flower beds here in Florida!
ReplyDeleteWe had a neighbor who summered the leaves in a front garden. I've never seen them bloom outdoors though. I would love to see them in flower beds.
