Transporting Pies - A Quick Tip for the Holidays

Here's a timely tip for the holiday and transporting pies. To keep a pudding, pumpkin, or any other pie without a top crust fresh, cover first with an overturned paper plate.

The paper plate protects the top of the pie from damage when covered with foil or plastic wrap. The plate has enough substance to protect the pie, but not enough weight to break the fragile crust.

    1. I've had plastic wrap and aluminum foil stick to the tops of open-faced pies so many times. This will save those smooth, beautiful pie tops.

  2. That is good idea. We call it kitchen foil, it works wonders doesn't it! And my cats love it scrunched up into a ball!

    1. All the cats I've had over the last decades have loved scrunched aluminum foil balls. They work especially well in a narrow hallway.
