Saturday Critters - Crows

In my country, the 'caw' of crows is a very distinctive birdcall. I have mixed feelings about them. Their intelligence is incredible and allows them to bedevil other birds and small animals in their constant search for food. They have voracious appetites, and I once saw one fly above my house with a hotdog in its beak.

The birds in my photos were part of a large choir of crows we listened to on a recent walk in the woods. It was a large gathering, and they sang various joyous songs. They seemed very excited as they flew among the tall pines, and we couldn't see what they were cawing to each other about so happily.

When I zoomed in on one, it showed the prize they were gathering: some pine berries or acorns. You can see one in the crow's beak. They are amazing birds; I'm glad they aren't man-sized; we wouldn't stand a chance.

  3. We have them here in Florida and they really do make a lot of noise in the woods when they call to each other. I love the photo of the one with his snack in his beak!

    1. I love the snack also. We think that is why they were singing like a choir...good food.

  4. I love crows so much. I really am a big fan of them. I know they have a bad reputation but they need to survive and humas do a lot worse I think. I have made friends with so many crows over the years on my different walks :-D

    1. They are quite a bird for sure. I have heard that they recognize human faces so can see how they recognize you if they see you often.
