H2O Thursday - Old Pilings

X Marks the Spot - Strathmere, New Jersey

This is an old photograph of one of our favorite spots, Strathmere, New Jersey. Sandwiched between the more popular beach towns of Ocean City and Sea Isle, it is part of a State Park. The beach has been replenished, the sand washes away, and they replenish again. The battle against the tides will go on forever. Years ago, this X-shape of old pilings was visible. We are curious if it has been removed or if it has been covered over. We still talk about it years later as we walk over to the area where we saw it last. Maybe it is still under our feet. Only the tides will tell.

This is my first time taking part in the H2O Thursday. Thanks to the host Roentare

    1. I'm not sure, maybe ten years old. The structure was huge and had to look like an X to airplanes flying overhead. A fascinating bit of history probably gone.
